Canada — Energy trade and cooperation

OFFICIALS: Hardeep Singh Puri; Timothy Hodgson, Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources
OUTCOME: The two ministers launched the renewed India–Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue, following direction from the two Prime Ministers at the G7 in Kananaskis in June 2025. Areas named include LNG, LPG and crude exports from Canada, including via the Trans Mountain pipeline, and refined products from India. PIB described it as the first high-level participation by a Canadian Cabinet Minister at India Energy Week.

OPEC — 9th OPEC International Seminar — “Oil Markets: Energy Security, Growth & Prosperity”

OFFICIALS: Hardeep Singh Puri (address to the seminar)
OUTCOME: Address setting out India's goals of energy independence by 2047 and net zero by 2070. Same-day bilateral meetings with Kuwait's oil minister, Nigeria's minister and Shell's CEO are recorded in a separate release (PRID 2143809).

UAE — LNG supply

OFFICIALS: Indian Oil; ADNOC (announced at the minister's press conference)
OUTCOME: About 1.2 MTPA of LNG for 14 years from 2026, valued at about US$7 bn. Also announced: a BPCL–Petrobras crude contract of up to 6 million barrels, Indian Oil's first LNG export deal (with Nepal), and BP's selection as technical services provider for Mumbai High.

OUTCOME: At a bilateral meeting, the minister said OPEC+ production cuts had removed about 5% of global supply and urged OPEC to “imbue a sense of pragmatism, balance and affordability”.

How entries are selected and described

Entries come mainly from Press Information Bureau releases of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Prime Minister's Office. Commercial agreements are listed only when announced officially or widely reported, and are credited to the companies that signed them.

Words such as “historic” or “landmark” are left out unless they appear in a direct quotation. Quotations are copied from the official release. Meetings reported only by media, such as the 2024 Qatar LNG signing and the September 2026 OPEC–India dialogue, are marked as media-reported.
