This is his only portfolio in the Council of Ministers listing as on 25 July 2026. The Cabinet Secretariat list of 23 June 2026 uses the same wording.

Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs
His first ministerial appointment came in a Council of Ministers expansion, before he was a Member of Parliament. He entered the Rajya Sabha in January 2018. Work in this period included the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), PMAY-Urban, the Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT and metro rail.

Sworn in again: Housing & Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation (Independent Charge), MoS Commerce & Industry
After the 2019 general election he kept Housing and Urban Affairs and also took Independent Charge of Civil Aviation. In this period the Vande Bharat Mission ran repatriation flights from 7 May 2020, and the RCS-UDAN regional connectivity scheme continued.

Cabinet Minister: Petroleum and Natural Gas; Housing and Urban Affairs
Promoted to Cabinet rank in a reorganisation of the Council of Ministers. Civil Aviation and Commerce and Industry passed to other ministers. He took charge at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on 8 July 2021.
